Involvement in the arts is associated with substantial documented improvement in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork.
Former President John F. Kennedy stated, “I see little of more importance to the future of our country and of civilization than full recognition of the place of the artist. If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his/her vision wherever it takes him/her.”
Our vision at Makua Lani Christian Academy is to provide a foundation to develop our students physically, academically, and spiritually. Our Arts program is one avenue in which we support that goal.
Since 2003 we have had numerous productions which have enriched the lives of our students as well as entertained our families and community. Some of our past productions include: Annie Jr., Little Mermaid Jr., Suessical Jr., You're a Good Man Charlie Brown., Mousetrap, Miracle Worker, Pride and Prejudice, Around the World in 80 Days, Cheaper By the Dozen. Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella.
In addition to our larger productions, the Drama Department has had wonderful success with it's annual Princess Breakfast fundraiser. We invite our community's little princesses to join our High School prince and princesses for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.
